Strengthening Partnerships: Santé Initiative Visits the Ministry of Health

These moments capture our team’s recent visit to the Ministry of Health (MoH) Uganda, where we held strategic discussions on advancing accessible and affordable vision care for underserved communities. The courtesy visit underscored our commitment to aligning with national health priorities and collaborating closely with the Ministry to enhance eye health systems across Uganda.

What We Discussed

The meeting focused on enhancing community-based vision screening, strengthening referral pathways through Village Health Teams (VHTs), integrating low-cost reading glasses into primary health care, and ensuring sustainable distribution models within existing health structures. These are the building blocks of a system that reaches everyone not just those who can afford care.

Together, we aim to make affordable, high-quality vision care accessible to every Ugandan, ensuring no one is left behind due to preventable vision challenges.

A Shared Vision

We are grateful to the MoH leadership and technical team for the warm welcome and support toward this shared vision. Their continued commitment to reducing avoidable vision challenges across the country is what makes this work possible.

Together, we move closer to a Uganda where everyone can see, learn, work, and live with confidence.
