We serve people who are often overlooked by the health system, with a particular focus on underserved communities in Uganda. This includes families in both refugee settlements and host communities, as well as people in urban and rural settings. Our work is rooted in partnership with these communities, employing local health workers to deliver trusted care.
Our flagship Community Eye Health Programme brings essential eye care closer to people. We conduct community-based screening for conditions like presbyopia and cataracts, provide affordable eyewear, and ensure people are referred for specialist care when needed. We don't replace clinical providers; we build a bridge to them, using grassroots structures like Village Health Teams (VHTs) and community groups to reach people where they are.
Through our emerging Found & Growing model, we are developing a refugee-led approach to early childhood health. We are working to train and pay refugee health workers to find children who have missed vaccinations and other essential services, using a live digital register to track every child. A core part of our mission is to advocate for these trained refugee health workers to be formally recognised within Uganda's community health system.
We are an evidence-led, community-rooted organisation. We don't just deliver services; we research, test, and refine our models, using data to prove what works and build a case for government and partners to adopt our solutions. Our goal is to create practical, sustainable models that close persistent health gaps and can be scaled by the health system itself. We also integrate livelihoods and digital innovation to address the social and economic barriers to care.
